SpockEars. Justin’s suggestion for what to name this convention site idea. So thats what I’m going with.
Installing laravel now.
composer create-project laravel/laravel spockears --prefer-dist
Waiting waiting waiting. I’m going to do the basic laravel quick start guide – http://laravel.com/docs/quick. See how I go from there. I’d like to not have to think too much when writing the site. I’m going to use bootstrap so I can get the front end looking averagely done asap.
Sigh. I don’t know if I can be bothered. Working tomorrow with Justin on SayDo, hopefully we will be able to get a version thats useable.
Okay so Laravel requires the mcrypt php extension. The easiest thing to do seems to be just use MAMPs version of php http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16830405/laravel-requires-the-mcrypt-php-extension
I’m adding this line into my .bash_profile
Okay setting up PHPStorm so it can use Artisan as a command line tool http://blog.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/2013/09/command-line-tools-based-on-symfony-console-doctrine-laravel-in-phpstorm/. Also integrating it with MAMP http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/PhpStorm/Installing+and+Configuring+MAMP+with+PhpStorm+IDE.
Actually maybe I’ll buy MAMP Pro. I use MAMP enough. $65…maybe later.
Installing bower. I should do that quick start guide and stop screwing around.
So it looks like Laravel’s artisan doesn’t include any generators. I’m going to give this https://github.com/JeffreyWay/Laravel-4-Generators a go.
The setup for this project is DEFINITELY more than for Slim. Slim really is so barebones, that you dont need tools to help you. And I STILL haven’t finished that laravel quick start tute. Okay, back to setting up the generator.
Error. Trying again.
Okay. Its all working. Put bower in there, but I’m not sure how I’m going to use grunt yet. With the temp files etc, we will see. God this is so much setup!!!
